Archived Webinar: Expanding Scope 3 Emissions Tracking and Reporting

In partnership with Clean-Air Cool Planet, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol
September 5th, 2012 | 2pm EST

Scope 3, or indirect emissions, have wide-reaching upstream and downstream impacts on the emissions baseline of any institution. This webinar will discuss the potential for colleges and universities to expand their scope 3 emissions reporting beyond the ACUPCC requirements for commuting, air travel, and solid waste. As we collectively get more sophisticated in our measurement and our stakeholder engagement efforts, should higher education expand reporting to reflect a more accurate assessment of climate impact – and if so, how?

This webinar includes a discussion of the implications for higher education of the updated Scope 3 Reporting Standard from the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, new tools and streamlined reporting in Clean Air-Cool Planet’s soon to be released web-based Campus Carbon Calculator, and the practical implications of additional reporting from New College of Florida.

Presenters: Benedict Buckley, Research Analyst, GHG Protocol Initiative Climate and Energy Program, World Resources Institute, Jenn Andrews, Director of Program Planning and Coordination, Clean-Air Cool-Planet, Jono Miller, Campus Steward, Assistant to the Vice President for Finance & Administration, New College of Florida, and Sarah Brylinsky, Program Associate, Second Nature (Moderator)

If higher education is not relevant to solving the crisis of global warming, it is not relevant, period.
